Appearances: Spectre

Portrayed By: Monica Bellucci

Background

Lucia Sciarra is the widow of Marco Sciarra, an assassin and agent of the international crime syndicate SPECTRE (SPecial Executives for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion). Marco Sciarra is hunted down and killed by James Bond in Mexico, as depicted in the cold open of the film Spectre. He later meets Lucia at Marco’s funeral.

Relationship With Bond

In the opening scene of Spectre, James Bond is in Mexico hunting SPECTRE agent Marco Sciarra. He tracks Sciarra down to a building, where Sciarra is undergoing a transaction involving a bomb. Bond shoots the bomb from a nearby building, causing an explosion, which Sciarra survives. Bond then chases Sciarra to a helicopter, where they engage in a fist fight resulting in Bond appropriating Sciarra’s SPECTRE ring and Sciarra plummeting to his death.

Bond’s mission in Mexico is done under posthumous orders from MI6’s former M (Judi Dench), who also informs Bond to attend Sciarra’s funeral. Here, he meets Lucia Sciarra.

Bond follows Lucia to her home, where he saves her from being assassinated by two SPECTRE agents who previously served as her bodyguards. Lucia, aware of her fate given her husband’s death, is resigned to her impending assassination in spite of Bond’s help. She assures him that they both will die if he stays near her. Instead of leaving, however, Bond engages her intimately.

Following this, Lucia tells Bond about a SPECTRE meeting, which Bond covertly attends using Marco Sciarra’s ring. He assures Lucia that she will be safe under the watch of the CIA. It is presumed that she is still alive at the end of Spectre.
