James Bond news weekly roundup: January 1
By David Pegram
Last week was the last week of 2017. Here’s what’s been going on in the world of James Bond, and what is coming up next week.
Headlines
The new James Bond installation at Solden, titled Elements, is set to open later this winter. Check out the new “trailer” here:
Will James Norton replace Daniel Craig after Bond 25? It’s far too soon to know, but that hasn’t stopped the writer of his TV drama, McMafia, from speculating. Misha Glenny told The Sun that Norton would have to be replaced if he chose Bond, but this would not end the series. He said, “There are so many worlds out there that will provide the background for more stories.”
If Denis Villeneuve is not directing Bond 25, he should simply say so. Right? In his latest interview, for Screencrush, Villeneuve again addressed the idea of directing Bond 25 and merely said, “Bond is an old fantasy of mine, but I can’t be in two places at the same time (directing Bond 25 and developing Dune). It’s a strange year because I would love to do a James Bond. I need to focus.” If Bond fans have been paying attention the past few years, they can tell when someone is trying to hide the truth. Stay tuned.
Sean Connery has filed paperwork to trademark his own name. If successful, Connery would have licensing rights to DVDs, books, games, and memorabilia that capitalizes on his name.
